Continue your spring cleaning by clearing out all of those old tax documents, confidential papers and any other paperwork that should not be placed in the trash. Hunziker & Associates, REALTORS® invite all of our customers, friends, and community members to participate by bringing up to 5 boxes of items to be shredded. We will have a shredding truck from Secure Shred Solutions at our office in Ankeny at 1255 N. Ankeny Blvd. from 11am - 1pm on Friday, April 26. The shredding truck will also be available from 9am - 11am on Sat., April 27 at our Ames office at 105 South 16th St.

With so much emphasis being put on security both in terms of our identity and our finances it is important to ensure that every effort is made to make the identity thief's job as difficult as possible. One way of doing this is to shred all documents that may contain information about you or members of your family which may allow the identity thief to build up a picture of either you as an individual or any other member of your family.

Here Today...Sold Tomorrow!

Here today...sold tomorrow! It is the season to buy and sell homes and right now it is happening faster than one might think. Of the houses that were listed in March at the right price and in good condition, 42% already have accepted offers. That means that the house you look at today, may not be available tomorrow. Why? Inventory levels of homes for sale are at all-time lows. Want to make sure you don't miss out on the perfect house? Click here to sign up to know about new listings as soon as they are available to the market.

Spring Cleaning: It's that time again!
Make the big cleaning job straightforward and even fun with a plan of attack, a checklist and a rewarding celebration at the end.

So why not approach the big job like a pro this year: create an action plan, assign tasks to specific family members (or even to a professional) and then reward everyone for a job well done. Don't forget to hold a family meeting to brainstorm enticing and fun rewards that will inspire everyone to work hard!

The benefits of spring cleaning are self-evident. You end up with a clean home, which won't require further cleaning for awhile. Your house, and by extension your life, is less cluttered, freeing your mind to dwell on more important things.

Follow this link for a Spring Cleaning Checklist to help organize the job into manageable chunks.

Spring Yard Manitenance

FertilizingLawn.jpg Spring is here and that means it's time to pull out the seeder, the rake, and the bags of fertilizer because it's time to begin the age old tradition of yard care for another season. Soon the turf will be getting green, and weekend warriors will be visiting nurseries in droves to buy this year's annual denizens of their flower beds. For some it means tweaking the radius of each underground sprinkler head, for others it means truckloads of fresh mulch. So whether you are planning to outdo all the neighbors, or you just want your grass to look good when the in-laws come up to stay for a week this summer, the season of mowers, trimmers, potting soil and Spring Yard Maintenance is upon us once again.

Here Spring Yard Maintenance To-Do's:
  • Mow the Lawn - Ensure the lawn is evenly mowed, keep your mower blades sharp for clean and even cuts, and trimmed to a third of its height.
  • Prune Bushes - Trim overgrown branches or dead branches.
  • Pull Weeds - Check yards, flower and vegetable beds, and under shrubs and trees for weeds and remove them.
  • Cut Back Trees - Cut dangerous branches and those hanging too close to the house.
  • Prep the Garden - Get those flower and vegetable gardens ready by tilling the soil, fertilizing and laying fresh mulch.
  • Sweep and Tidy Up - Sweep the driveway and walkways free of dirt and debries and properly dispose of yard waste.

Mark your calendars for Saturday and Sunday, April 20 and 21, 2013 - and join REALTORS® and associations throughout OpenDoor.jpgthe U.S. and internationally for a weekend open house.

During National Open House weekend, buyers can have a greater chance of doing just that. The weekend is organized by state and local Realtor® associations across the country and around the world, uniting Realtors® as they host thousands of open houses while engaging consumers on the benefits of homeownership and bringing buyers and sellers together.

"Realtor® Nationwide Open House is a fantastic opportunity for those interested in homeownership to connect with a Realtor® who can offer expert guidance and advice on the home buying process," said National Association of Realtors® President Moe Veissi, broker-owner of Veissi & Associates Inc., in Miami. "During the weekend Realtors® will be on hand to answer questions about the local housing market and provide insights into the social and financial benefits of homeownership. Open houses are also a great way for potential buyers to get a feel for what is available in their local market."
