Community Shred Day

Continue your spring cleaning by clearing out all of those old tax documents, confidential papers and any other paperwork that should not be placed in the trash. Hunziker & Associates, REALTORS® invite all of our customers, friends, and community members to participate by bringing up to 5 boxes of items to be shredded. We will have a shredding truck from Secure Shred Solutions at our Ankeny office (1255 S. Ankeny Blvd.) on April 24 from 4pm - 6pm and at our office in Ames at 105 South 16th St. from 9am - 11am on Sat., May 3.

With so much emphasis being put on security both in terms of our identity and our finances, it is important to ensure that every effort is made to make the identity thief's job as difficult as possible. One way of doing this is to shred all documents that may contain information about you or members of your family which may allow the identity thief to build up a picture of either you as an individual or any other member of your family.

The #1 Reason You Should Sell Now

The price of any item (including residential real estate) is determined by 'supply and demand'. If many people are looking to buy an item and the supply of that item is limited, the price of that item increases.

According to the National Association of Realtors (NAR), the supply of homes for sale dramatically increases every summer. Putting your home on the market now instead of waiting for the increased competition of the summer might make a lot of sense.

Buyers in the market during the spring months are motivated. They want to buy now. With limited inventory available in most markets currently, a seller will be in a great position to negotiate.

National Volunteer Week April 6-12, 2014

VolunteerWeek2012logo.png National Volunteer Week, April 6-12, 2014, is about inspiring, recognizing and encouraging people to seek out imaginative ways to engage in their communities. It's about demonstrating to the nation that by working together, we have the fortitude to meet our challenges and accomplish our goals.

Established in 1974, National Volunteer Week has grown exponentially in scope each year, drawing the support and endorsement of all subsequent U.S. presidents, governors, mayors and other respected elected officials. This year marks the 40th anniversary of National Volunteer Week, demonstrating the enduring importance of recognizing our country's volunteers for their vital contributions. This year Advil®, as part of the Advil® Relief in Action program, is the lead sponsor of National Volunteer Week.

During National Volunteer Week Advil® will be celebrating volunteers' dedication to helping others, relieving the aches and pains that come with giving back, and encouraging others to join the movement. Advil® is encouraging everyone to share inspiring photos that capture Relief in Action through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with hashtag #ReliefInAction.

We encourage you to get involved in your community and give back by volunteering. Check with your local shelters and food banks or see if help is needed at assisted living homes or simply help by cleaning up a neighborhood park.

Spring Clean - Green Clean

SpringClean April is a great time to get that spring cleaning done, before the kids are done with school and you're off to the lake or summer vacations. Below are some great tips for what to get done during your spring cleaning and healthier ways to do it without the endless amount of harmful and toxic cleaners that are sold in the superstores.
  • Make your own mixture of baking soda and acidic vinegar, no harmful chemicals to inhale and won't contaminate food
  • Use the vinegar/baking soda cleaner, but instead of mopping the floor, use a wet/dry vac to get the grime out of the grout
  • Use a microfiber cloth and some water, for all types of cleaning, from greasy messes to a quick dusting of electronics
  • Flip your mattress each spring- This can make your mattress last longer
  • Think about getting your carpets, mattresses, and furniture upholstery professionally cleaned
